British actor Steve Coogan is being blamed for turning Owen Wilson on to heroin and cocaine. “I went through it with Steve,” his ex-girlfriend Courtney Love told US Magazine. “I was just out of rehab, and he was right there with the drugs. I tried to warn Owen. I tried to warn his friends. I hope from the bottom of my heart that Owen stays the hell away from that guy.”
Evidently, Wilson’s dependency on the two drugs grew so bad that Woody Harrelson staged an intervention in his Maui home. After that, things began looking up for Wilson. Friends believed he’d put the worst behind him.
Then came the Memorial Day breakup with Kate Hudson, when Wilson began withdrawing from his social crowd. “I thought, briefly, he might be back on heroin, but we all really felt he’d kicked that ages ago,” his friend said.
When they were dating, Hudson had banned Coogan from Wilson’s house.
Coogan calls the allegations “unhelpful and hurtful”. His spokeswoman says the actor is looking into legal advice with respect to the “unfounded” allegations.
