Pop singer Ashanti’s body is a thing of beauty, but it’s far from effortless. According to the singer, she’s had to work hard at it, in part by following the ‘Master Cleanse’ lemonade diet.
“I did the lemon-pepper-maple syrup diet for seven days. When I got really hungry, I ate fruit. I lost eight pounds and kept it off,” she explained.
Beyonce had previously acknowledged to Oprah that she, too, followed this diet to lose weight, although she opted for vegetables when hungry. Throughout the 14 days she stuck with the regime “I was really cranky,” she confessed.
For those interested in trying the same fad as Ashanti, the Lemonade Diet recipe is below the fold. But be warned: it basically amounts to a 10-day fast, and if you’re already having trouble controlling your eating, there’s no reason to think that unlimited amounts of pepper-spiked lemonade is going to make it any easier.
Lemonade Diet Drink
Ingredients
For 10 days, drink a concoction of the following at least 10 times per day:
- 2 Tablespoons fresh-squeezed lemon juice (approx. ½ lemon), not bottled juice.
- 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
- 1/10 Teaspoon crushed cayenne pepper
- 8 oz. bottled (not tap) water
Shake it all together and drink. When hungry, either eat fruit like Ashanti or veggies like Beyonce but remember: French fries aren’t allowed.

But really, now. Eight pounds? drinking cayenne-laced lemonade? Don’t they realize that it’s simply by virtue of their AGE that they lose eight pounds?
Looking back, I can tell you that I had the “Beer Diet, three square pitchers a day.” And by god, I LOST WEIGHT. I was in my 20s. You can WILL WEIGHT OFF at that stage in the game.
Point to ONE person over 40 who has lost weight on this stupid “diet” and I’ll retract everything.
(I think I’ve finally subscribed to all your blogs, now. LOL)
