Potter-mania was much in evidence at Britain’s first ever National Movie Awards this weekend. Daniel Radcliffe received the award for Best Male Performance, beating Potter co-star Rupert Grint, Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp and Daniel Craig.
Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the Potter films, took the award for Best Female Performance over Dame Judi Dench, Eva Green, Kirsten Dunst and Keira Knightley.
The movie also won top honors for the Best Family Film.
Now, Radcliffe says, he wants to play James Bond but recognizes he’s too much of a “short-arse” to pull it off.
So what’s a little guy to do? Radcliffe says that if he can’t play the first gay James Bond with Rupert Grint as his Bond girl, he wants to play some other gay spy.
