Lindsay Lohan as Marilyn Monroe

One year ago this month, Lindsay Lohan moved into Marilyn Monroe’s old apartment. This year, she seems determined to move into Marilyn’s place in the national memory, too.

Lohan posed for Bert Stern, the photographer who captured the iconic images of Marilyn Monroe in a shoot now known as “The Last Sitting” — taken six weeks prior to the star’s tragic death. Image after image depict Lohan in nearly identical poses at the Hotel Bel-Air where Stern photographed Monroe 46 years ago.

While we find it a bit eerie how obsessed LaLo is with Marilyn, we do believe the results are rather stunning. See for yourself by checking out the pictures below the fold. (NSFW)

Quite. You’d think she’d have asked them to airbrush it out so she looked a bit more like Marilyn.

That is wrong on so many levels. I’m a big Marilyn fan, and Lohan will never fill those shoes. Not even by living in the same apartment and wearing circa 1960 underroos.

I’ve always thought Lindsay was lovely, to tell the truth. Maybe it’s the redhead thing.

I guess I have a different take on it - shooting photos with the same photographer, in a clear echo of the photos isn’t trying to fill Marilyn’s shoes, its meant as an homage to an icon.

As a photographer, I have to say I love the photo series, it’s really wonderful work.
